My First Semester...IS OVER?!

Yeah, you read it right! My first semester at Union University has ended. It went by so fast, I can't even believe it! It was wonderous. I love it there. :)
I go back to school January 2, and probably won't be able to come back home until May. I hope I can at least make a weekend trip up. But, I will keep updates rolling in. :) I'm finally actually taking real English classes!! I'm so excited! :) :)
I might have to post a list of the classes I'm taking. I had to buy ten books. I'm going to be reading so much I might have to have my nose surgically removed from a book. Haha.

Leibster Blog Award

I have been awarded the prostigious Leibster blog award (to which I was undeniably unaware of until recently) by dear Skye Syrek! :) And so, I continue on to say, that I will now bestow this honor upon others (not many, I'm afraid) whose blogs I read.

Like most blogging awards, this one comes with a list of rules ;)

•Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
•Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
•Copy and paste the award on your blog.
•Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
•And most of all – have bloggity-blog fun!

Here are the friends I shall nominate (though I do not have too many! EEK!)

Emily: Because she hasn't updated her blog in three months, and desperately needs to. :)
Calleigh: Because her blog is always fun and entertaining! Love the writings, too!
Elizabeth: Because, like Skye said, she hasn't updated her blog in forever and desperately needs to. :) Do it, do it!

Alright, go forth and post!

New Blogs!

Aloha everyone, and welcome to the new blogs of Sarah Halbrook! :0
If you are formerly familiar to the blog "A Writer's Tale", then you are in for some good news! Everything is in working order now, and is not as crushed and disorganized and smooshed together as it used to be. I have created two other blogs and moved my poetry and random documentations of my life to them, respectively. On each of my blogs, you will find a section on the left hand side that supplies two links to the other blogs. Please become a follower of them! I would love to have readers. :) Here is a small breakdown of the new set-up.

A Writer's Tale - Writings: stories or random blurbs
A Writer's Journey - Random documentation of my life
A Writer's Song - Poetry (because I just CAN'T stop writing it!)

Birthday Weekend - Continued

I gave everyone a thorough tour of the campus, now that I actually know how to get around it myself, and then took them to the guys' JV soccer game. I know a guy on the team, and meant to get a picture with him, but didn't get a chance to. After that, we went back to my apartment and lounged around a bit, then went out to dinner at Outback!
This is a stone monument in the middle of the Quads (upperclassmen dorms) that commemorates the tornado of 2008 that destroyed most of the campus. They totally rebuilt most of it.
This is the clock tower. It survived the tornado. The buildings behind it didn't. They have been newly built since 2008.
My roomie and I at the JV guys' soccer game! There's another of Jacob and I, but it's not letting me post it. :(
This, my friends, is my birthday dessert! It was marvelously wonderful, and SO BIG.

Birthday Weekend at Union University!

So, mì mama came down to visit for the weekend for my birthday, and she brought the whole Ozinga clan with her! It was a big surprise, and really great to see everyone! :) I have some pictures to share with you people. So, here goes.
That was my expression when I saw that mom wasn't the ONLY one that came to visit me! It was a big surprise. Hence the obvious expression on my face. haha.

I had just discovered that ALL of my roommates were in on it, too.

So, they proceeded to present me with a cookie cake!

And an angry bird! (That's my roomie Brittany holding the angry bird on my shoulder. She is an awesome roomie. My other roomies are awesome, too, but I don't have pictures of them!
"Hello, my name is Sarah, and I'll be your tour guide for today!"
This is the building I live in, called Hurt 1.
This is a view of the staircase that leads up to our room. You can see the door on the far left.

College Life is Quite Hectic. But Awesome. :)

Aloha from Tennessee, my faithful readers! I've been here for a little over a month now, and it's been great. :) Alas, since I have been here, I have not been able to write much of anything, just one simple little poem that I shall post for you. I have also posted a picture that is of me standing in front of the fountain here at Union University! :)

Let Go

Open air
just beyond the wayward
desires,
protesting admittance to those
who cannot let go.
Open air
beckons irresistably, never
ceasing to promise
peace,
and yet always guarantees loss.

ABC...123?

I was tagged by Skye! :D This is my first ever tagging too, Skye. *grins* Oh, and btw, you forgot Dancing Oreo as one of your nicknames. *scolds* I meant to comment on yours and Calleigh's posts, but my blogger account is going crazy. :( It will only let me post stuff on my own blog. So. For some reason, my comment went through on Calleigh's but not yours. It wouldn't go through on Emily's, either.
Oh! Is the Olivia you mentioned in your post, Ony (Ponytales) from the DIOM forums? If so, link her to me, please! :)
After that lengthy spiel, here are the ABC's of me. :D

A. Age: Nineteen

B. Bed size: Queen...and being as small as I am, I take up every single inch of it. O_o

C. Chore you hate: Um. Emptying the dishwasher. Ick.

D. Day: Usually my favorite day comes with whatever my schedule is...and the days that are my favorite are the ones where I don't have anything to do. :) (Unless its something with friends!)

E. Essential start to your day: Mmm. Waking up. A process that takes at least three hours for me. Also, a little coffee never hurt. ;)

F. Favorite color: PURPLE!!!

G. Gold or silver: I heart silver.

H. Height: Er.. 5'2 and 3/4. Not that anyone's keeping count.

I. Instruments: Ehm...the occasional rubber band I find in my desk?

J. Job title: Librarian's Assistant. *nods*

K. Kids: None, I'm only 19!

L. Live: In my way-too-vivid-for-my-own-good imagination. :)

M. Mom's name: Beverly

N. Nicknames: Hmm. None for my real name. Except for Saran-wrap. (play off of my first and middle name), Gumby (long story), Shorty (not so long of a story), Mini-ninja (partly self-explanatory), and HALLLLBROOK! (haha). My online screennames have many different variations of nicknames. WW15, Winnee, Writer, Writerbee, Nabe, being just a few.

O. Overnight hospital stays: I've had some when I was younger. I don't really know how many, though.

P. Pet peeve: Rumble strips. Wasps. The sound of nails on a chalkboard. The feel of chalk *shudder*. Homework that I can't figure out within the first hour of doing it. lol. Writer's block. Socks that go above the ankles. Vegetables. lol. But now I guess I'm just getting into dislikes. ;)

Q. Quote from a movie: Behold, I give you many quotes:

"My voice? *chokes* "Is that MY voice?!" -Emperor's New Groove

"Sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could they ever be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was, when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing; the shadow, even darkness must pass. And a new day will come, and when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even when you were too young to understand why." - Sam, The Lord of the Rings

((If some guy is going to tell me that he doesn't love me, or were to ever dump me for whatever reason, THIS *points down* is how I would want it to happen. Haha.))

Eowyn: Why are you doing this? The war lies to the East. You cannot leave on the eve of battle.
[pause]
Eowyn: You cannot abandon the men.
Aragorn: Eowyn...
Eowyn: We need you here.
Aragorn: Why have you come?
Eowyn: Do you not know?
Aragorn: It is but a shadow and a thought that you love. I cannot give you what you seek. -Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King

((Another from Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King:))
[extended version, the Houses of Healing]
Eowyn: The city has fallen silent. There is no warmth left in the sun.
Faramir: [approaching her] It is only the damp of the first spring rain.
[Eowyn looks up at him]
Faramir: I do not believe this darkness will endure.

((I have many others...but I will not bore you with them. ;) ))

R. Right or left handed: Ambidextrious.

S. Siblings: None. :( Unless you count my adopted siblings of my church family, of which I have many. :) If you are reading this, you are probably one of them. Haha

T. Time you wake up: Depends on the day...about sixish when I go to work. Every other day, though, I sleep as late as I possibly can. Haha.

U. Underwear: Indeed.

V. Vegetables you dislike: Haha...most of them. It would be a shorter list to put down the ones I do like. Onions, and green beans, and romaine lettuce. :P

W. What makes you run late: I am never late. Neither am I early. I arrive precisely when I mean to.

X. X-rays you've had: Mostly on my ankles. I have done a number on them, that is for sure.

Y. Yummy food you make: Chicken and rice. *nods* And others, too.

Z. Zoo: ...PENGUINS!!

Editeth: I forgot to tag people!!

I'd Rather Be Writing.

So, this is the phrase that pops into my head about twice every fifteen minutes on a daily basis.

Oh yeah.

Monday, January 3, 2011

I'm at school...and bored. Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored. Waiting for classes is quite droll. It takes away the very living essence of my soul. It makes me want to go to the alley and bowl. I even wish to crawl into my warm little hidey-hole. At school? No, I would much rather be hit over the head with a pole.
